About Me...

A mother tongue English speaker, I am also a university qualified teacher, with a certificate in teaching ESL/EFL. I have taught English and ESL/EFL for over 38 years at international schools or in ESL/EFL programs. During those years I worked with students aged 3 years to adult. Along with English and ESL/EFL, I also taught various other subjects (literature, creative writing, history, math, science, etc.), both as a classroom teacher or as a tutor.

For 16 years, I was a member of the AIWC (American International Women's Club) Writers' Workshop - an international group of English-speaking women who meet monthly to share their writing for the specific purpose of editing/critiquing it in an accepting environment, thereby developing their writing skills. In this way, I honed my editing/critiquing skills while, at the same time, continued to develop my creative/personal writing skills.

During my life I have lived in six countries (on four continents and two islands) and traveled extensively in between. I believe that this, plus my experiences teaching at international schools and in ESL/EFL programs, has developed in me an appreciation for different cultures as well as an enjoyment of working with people from many different backgrounds.

As a person, I would describe myself as a self-starter and a life learner, who is interested in many subject areas. In my free time I like to hike in the mountains and travel to as many countries in the world as I can, while taking photographs of all that I see along the way. I also make jewelry with beads from all over the world. I consider myself a fledgling creative/personal writer. And always, I read, from fiction to the latest news.
